Special Session on Mobile Computing

Special Session Organiser: Dr. Jiannong Cao, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong

Mobile and wireless computing is essential for the realization of intelligent environments. Since motion is an integral part of everyday life, intelligent environments must support mobility and wireless communications so people are no longer confined to their offices and homes to access the Internet, attend a conference, or make a phone call. However, mobile and wireless computing raises many new challenging research issues. The purpose of this special session is to provide an international forum for academic researchers and industry practitioners to present and discuss experiences, new ideas, and results of research in the areas related to mobile and wireless computing.

Prospective authors are invited to submit papers. Topics include but not are limited to the following:

  • Mobile and wireless network protocols
  • Application development in mobile and wireless systems
  • Mobile peer-to-peer communications
  • Quality of Service in mobile and wireless computing
  • Mobile and wireless computing middleware
  • Mobile agents
  • Mobile and wireless access of services
  • Security in mobile and wireless systems
  • Context-awareness
  • Location tracking
  • Location-based services
  • Operating system support for mobile and wireless networking and computing
  • Mobile wireless sensor networks
